Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett Sends Letter to President Trump Regarding  Diverting Disaster Funds For Border Security

Earlier this week, Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett sent a letter to President Trump regarding his proposal to divert disaster relief funds for border security.

Congresswoman Plaskett is opposed to this approach. Disaster funding was approved by Congress and the President specifically for recovery and rebuilding. Diverting  these funds would be a national emergency.

On Wednesday, January 18th, Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett addressed the President in a detailed letter on his attempts to divert funds for border wall from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. The letter came about after the President made suggestive comments to use disaster funds for border wall.

In strong opposition, her letter addressed a number of items that addressed the existing concerns of post hurricane relief, his comments made in regards to the government shut down and the Virgin Islands who are being affected from the disaster.

Indeed, it is disingenuous for the President to claim he is offering safety for DACA receiptents
