Concerning WAPA

Amid growing concerns about WAPA's financial status and management, Congresswoman Plaskett spoke with the Authority's senior leadership, members of the financial community, and Governor Bryan before penning a letter to the Governor and Senate President Novelle Francis about the crisis state of WAPA. In her letter, Delegate Plaskett called for the Governor to declare a state of emergency. If the Governor accepts this recommendation, it will open opportunities for community disaster loan forgiveness; technical assistance from the Rural Utility Service and the U.S. Department of Energy to provide efficient and reliable electrical service; a petition to HUD to re-evaluate funding levels provided the Virgin Islands for hazard mitigation projects; and federal court intervention.

It is imperative for the people of the Virgin Islands that changes are made and soon.

Community Reminders
  • In the coming days, many of you on St Thomas will receive a notice from the Postal Service with your official and correct mailing address. Take a moment to review this important notice for information that may be different from the address format you now use.

For example, your official address may include an apartment number or a street name and building number.  The Postal Service relies on the use of this complete address for proper delivery of your important personal and business mails, including packages, checks or medications.

Always use your official address.  Include all elements of this address every time you provide your address for a purchase, a service for which you are billed or to friends and family.  Also, use a complete return address on envelopes or packages that you mail.

Typically, your physical location is not a complete mailing address.  Your official notice from the Postal Service will provide a complete address that you can use for regular, reliable mail service from the Postal Service.

The Postal Service is committed to excellence but they need our help to deliver.  If you have any questions concerning your address, contact my office at 340-774-4408.
