Congresswoman Plaskett Meets with Subcontractors |

Congresswoman Plaskett during her meeting with subcontractors. |
This week Congresswoman Plaskett met with several subcontractors who have been contracted to fulfill mandates from federally funded programs related to the US Virgin Islands rebuilding efforts including the STEP Program. Meeting with these important stakeholders allowed the Congresswoman hear first hand what has worked, community concerns, payments to them and vendors, and to improve the expenditure of funding secured by Congresswoman Plaskett over the past two years.
Congresswoman Plaskett is working with Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who represent the subcontractors' districts to ensure that subcontractors are paid and disaster funding reaches the territory efficiently. |
Congresswoman Plaskett Meets with Representatives of Frenchman's Reef |
On Thursday, Congresswoman Plaskett met with representatives of Frenchman's Reef resort to discuss their rebuilding efforts. The resort's representatives provided an outline of their plans to reopen the resort in mid-2020 better than it was before. Included in these plans is an emergency safe room in the unfortunate event of another hurricane. |

Congresswoman Plaskett with a V.I. veteran during Congress On Your Corner. |
Last week, Congresswoman Plaskett's district offices brought their office to local neighborhoods with a series of "Congress on Your Corner" events. These events are designed to make casework submission more convenient for the community. This round was specifically for veterans. Many came to their nearest American Legion and spoke with staff members and opened cases.
Keep an eye out for the next time our office is on your corner. In the meantime, if you have a federal issue that you need help with, contact our office in your District. |

Work being done to correct the Queen's Quarter sewage issue. |
Calls from residents of the Queens' Quarter area (Garden St.) of St. Thomas poured into our St. Thomas office about sewage overflowing into the street. The problem quickly became a public health hazard. Thanks to the work of our St. Thomas staff in partnership with Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, the issue was resolved.
A resident of the area commended the staff member who worked on the case saying "his availability to help your constituents is a reflection of standards you set for your office." |

Congresswoman Plaskett on the cover of The New York Times. |
Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett and her daughter Talia Buckney-Smalls we featured on the front page of
The New York Times on June 20th. The picture was taken during a June 19th Judiciary hearing on H.R. 40, a bill introduced in the house since 1989. The bill would establish a commission to study and develop reparation proposals for African-Americans.
Earlier that day, Congresswoman Plaskett and Abdul Ali had a similar discussion on reparations from Denmark to the Virgin Islands.
