Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett, on Tuesday met with the Prime Ministers of Aruba and Curaçao in her Washington, D.C. office.
During the visit, Congresswoman Plaskett, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes of Aruba and Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath of Curaçao discussed the regional impact of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. |

During a visit to Washington, D.C. Lt. Governor Tregenza A. Roach had a meeting with Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett.
They discussed matters that require sustained attention; among these were insurance coverage for the territory's businesses and the ongoing recovery efforts.

Winner of Congressional Student Art Competition Announced |
The Virgin Islands Council on the Arts recently judged artwork created by middle and high-schoolers in the territory for the 2019 Congressional Student Art Competition. This week, Congresswoman Plaskett hosted a reception for the public and press to meet the artists and hear about the masterpieces they created.
Alanya Caraballo, a student at the St. Croix Central High School won with her artwork entitled "Celebration". The painting depicts three young majorettes lined up, waiting to perform. Alanya and all the other talented artists who competed are examples of the talent and brilliance that the Virgin Islands has to offer the world.
The winner Alanya now has the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. where her artwork will be displayed in the United States Capitol for a year. |

UVI Commencement Ceremonies |
Congresswoman Plaskett on Thursday and Friday spoke at UVI's commencement ceremonies on St. Croix and St. Thomas. During her remarks the Congresswoman imparted the importance that the graduates enter their post-graduation lives eyes wide open to the state of our nation and our world, and encouraged them to connect the Virgin Islands to the world and be a relevant part of it. |

As National Police Week comes to a close Congresswoman Plaskett extends thanks and commendation to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).
The men and women of the VIPD have dedicated themselves to keeping the people of the Virgin Islands and all those who visit our shores safe. Through their high standards of professionalism they have earned the trust and respect that this vital sector of our government deserve.
