WASHINGTON, DC— Virgin Islands Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett issued the following statement in recognition of National Police Week:

National Police Week is a solemn reminder of the courage and sacrifice of our law enforcement officers in the U.S. Virgin Islands and across the country. These brave men and women risk their lives every day to ensure the safety and security of our communities. As the daughter of a 30-year retired NYPD officer and granddaughter of a former Virgin Islands Deputy Police Commissioner, I know first-hand that sacrifice. I extend my gratitude to the men and women of the Virgin Islands Police Department for their service and acts of valor, and similarly my reverence for their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their loved ones.
