CONGRESSWOMAN PLASKETT SHARES RESPONSE TO GOVERNOR BRYAN’S 5TH STATE OF THE TERRITORY ADDRESS

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett (USVI), released the following statement regarding Governor Albert Bryan Jr.’s 5th State of the Territory address:

“Earlier this week Governor Bryan gave his 5th State of the Territory address and detailed numerous projects, proposals, and clear objectives on how he intends to expand growth and prosperity for the territory. I and my team are prepared to continue working with his office to partner with shared goals that will support a brighter present and future for all Virgin Islanders.

“I am proud that my team and I have been able to work to advance the interests of the Virgin Islands in Congress and it is gratifying when those interests align with Governor Bryan’s initiatives for our territory. We will continuously lead the way in championing the interests of the Virgin Islands through bipartisan support during the 118th Congress to provide federal legislation and funding that have been foundational for so many advances in the past few years. From the permanent increase in Medicaid funding, to the hundreds of millions of dollars secured through the American Rescue Plan Act for education, childcare, and the reimbursement of the Earned Income Tax Credit, to the historic acquisition of National Heritage Area status for St. Croix, the legislative wins we secure are a direct representation of my advocacy to ensure Virgin Islanders remain at the forefront of economic parity and equity and equal representation.

“It has been a privilege to collaborate with the governor, his office, and the people of the Virgin Islands. I am dedicated to the continuation of our joint efforts to reimagine and rebuild the Virgin Islands so that its people may prosper.”
