Virgin Islands Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett released the following statement on the Mass shooting at the Pulse Nighclub in Orlando, Florida:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the city of Orlando, the victims and their loved ones. There is a large Virgin Island diaspora in the greater Orlando area and we pray for their safety, as well as the safety of their loved ones. What happened in Orlando is in fact a confluence of terror, hate and depraved indifference. It is also a testament to our inaction toward meaningful and common-sense solutions to gun safety, which allow military-grade weaponry into the wrong hands, and gun violence to reign terror on our streets, in our schools, places of worship and places of recreation. As the investigation and the conversation continue, let us not lose sight of the frequent terror gun violence brings to communities like the U.S. Virgin Islands and the victims and families affected. It is time we act."
