Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett Offers Prayers in the Aftermath of the Shooting Targeting Members of Congress, Staff and Capitol Police at a Congressional Baseball Practice

“I am praying for the wounded and for the families of the members of Congress, their staff and Capitol Police and other law enforcement who were hurt today,” stated Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett, a Member of the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement condemning the senseless violence at a Congressional baseball practice in Virginia while offering sympathy for the victims:

“The senseless attack that took place this morning targeting members of Congress at a Congressional baseball practice is a reminder of the rampant gun violence plaguing America. Shootings like this are all too familiar to Virgin Islanders and I will continue to work with our community to combat the rise in gun violence. I offer my prayers to all those injured today including my colleague Congressman Steve Scalise, congressional staff members and the brave members of the U.S Capitol Police and other law enforcement whose rapid response to the gunfire saved lives.

“We do not yet know all of the facts surrounding what happened and we look forward to getting those in full details soon. I want to thank the people of the Virgin Islands for all the calls of concern today.”
