Seventeen years ago today, our nation suffered an unimaginable tragedy that changed the course of our day-to-day lives. Today we remember the thousands who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the hundreds, now-thousands of first responders and the thousands of American men and women in our armed services who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the global fight against terrorism. Our Virgin Islands community shares equally the loss as our sons and daughters were among those who worked in the twin towers and the Pentagon on that fateful day, as well as among those first responders and members of our armed forces who paid the ultimate sacrifice in ensuring our safety.
