Plaskett meets with 31st LegislatureCongresswoman, Senators discuss mutual agendas and ways to collaborate
Washington, DC,
September 2, 2015
Virgin Islands Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett today met with members of the 31st legislature to discuss current and proposed legislation and collaborative ways to advance the economic development and wellbeing of the Virgin Islands. Congresswoman Plaskett has invited the members of the legislature to today’s meeting, which is the first in a series of meetings to occur in the near future. “This meeting today gives us an opportunity to sit and discuss our priorities and also to identify ways we can collaborate in the best interest of the people of the Virgin Islands. Since taking office in January, I have made a point to reach out to our local government to identify areas where we could work together to maximize our effectiveness in overcoming our challenges and advancing the interest of the territory. We discussed many issues including economic development, education, public safety and support from the federal government. I am grateful for the Senators’ time and I am pleased that today’s meeting is the first in a series of meetings that will occur on a regular basis,” Plaskett said. ### |
