Plaskett Supports White House Emergency Supplemental Request to Fight Zika VirusAdministration asks Congress for more than $1.8 billion in emergency funding
Washington, DC,
February 8, 2016
Virgin Islands Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett released the following statement after the White House announced the Administration is requesting an emergency supplemental funding package to help address the Zika virus. “The Zika threat requires an aggressive and proactive response in order to protect against the spread of the virus in our communities. I applaud the Administration for taking this step and urge the Congress to approve emergency resources to strengthen our response and to potentially aid in finding and developing a vaccine. It is also important that the White House and the Congress consider the areas most threatened by the Zika virus and prioritize emergency resources. With confirmed cases of local transmission, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico continue to be on the front lines of the Zika epidemic.” ### |
