Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett released the following statement about the start of Ramadan, Muslims’ most sacred month of the year:

“The holy month of Ramadan is a sacred time of study, sacrifice and spiritual renewal. Muslims In the Virgin Islands and around the world join in this holy occasion that brings loved ones together.

“We are also reminded during this time of the rich diversity and the many contributions that Muslim Americans have made in our Virgin Islands community and throughout every sector of society. Our differences make our Nation stronger and discrimination must be rejected in all its forms.

“Out of many, we are one. May this Ramadan bring joy, peace and unity throughout the World.”
