ST.CROIX- Virgin Islands Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett issued the following statement on reports of widespread sexual abuse in the Virgin Islands National Guard:

“I am deeply disturbed by the reports of widespread sexual abuse within the Virgin Islands National Guard. Sexual assault is repulsive and must not be tolerated. It is my sincere hope that this report and investigation move us closer to brining all responsible parties to justice and closer to restoring the organizational effectiveness of the Virgin Islands National Guard. I commend Brig. Gen. Deborah Howell for her leadership and transparency, as well as Governor Kenneth Mapp for confronting this serious issue.”
