CONGRESSWOMAN STACEY PLASKETT'S STATEMENT REGARDING THE END OF HOLY WEEK

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement regarding the end of Holy Week:

“Future generations will look back on this as the long Lent of 2020, a time when disease and death suddenly darkened the whole earth.  The Passover this week was a reminder of God’s provision for the people of Israel, directing them to shelter in their homes and the blood of the lamb over their doorpost as the Angel of Death passed by.  We too have shut ourselves up at home as we conclude Holy Week, the most sacred days of the year.   People across the United States and the world are living under quarantine, our societies shut down, in an attempt to protect one another from the coronavirus.

“But we know that our Redeemer lives. Even in this extraordinary and challenging moment, we give thanks for what Jesus Christ has done for us by his life, death, and resurrection. Even now, we marvel at the beautiful grace and love of our salvation, how precious each one of us is in the eyes of God.

“These are times almost without precedent in the long history of the Church. In this difficult moment, we ask God for his grace, that we might bear this burden together with patience and charity, united as one family of God.  From my family and staff, God’s riches blessings and grace to you all as we look to the resurrection – new life."
