CONGRESSWOMAN PLASKETT OFFERS THANKSGIVING GREETINGS AND ENCOURAGES VIRGIN ISLANDERS TO MAINTAIN VIGILANCE FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

WASHINGTON, DC--Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement offering Thanksgiving greetings and encourages Virgin Islanders to maintain vigilance regarding the recent spikes in Coronavirus cases seen locally and across the U.S.:

“Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. There is something particularly special about setting aside time to remember and give thanks for the many blessings and triumphs seen in the past year. Research shows that gratitude can improve our well-being, increase resilience and reduce stress and depression. We all need these benefits, especially as we come to the end of what has been a year of monumental loss. Despite the difficulties encountered in 2020, there is still much to be thankful for—life, health, family, friends and freedom.

“This is usually a time that we spend with extended family and friends, but our holiday celebrations will look markedly different this year. I encourage everyone to continue being safe, practicing social distancing and washing/sanitizing your hands. With the recent uptick in cases seen across the nation and in our territory, it is imperative that we follow the CDC’s guidelines.

It is my hope that you and your loved ones continue to be safe and blessed with good health. May you harvest a brighter tomorrow and may you reap peace always.

Happy Thanksgiving!
