WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett and the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) announced participants in a virtual ‘Parade Across America’ on January 20 at 3:15 PM ET that will feature diverse, dynamic performances in communities in all 50 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands to, celebrate America’s heroes, and highlight the diversity, heritage, and resilience of the country. The Congresswoman released the following statement: “There will not be a traditional inaugural parade down Pennsylvania Avenue on Wednesday, but there will be a virtual ‘Parade Across America’ and the U.S. Virgin Islands will be a participant. President-elect Joe Biden’s virtual parade, which will follow his swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol and a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, will include performers and other representatives from all 50 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The event, billed as a “Parade Across America,” will celebrate the nation's heroes and highlight the diversity, heritage and resilience of the country. “I want to thank Governor Albert Bryan, Commissioner of Tourism Joseph Boschulte and Assistant Director of the Division of Festivals Shamari Haynes, along with the participants from the Virgin Islands for working so diligently with my office to make this historic event an even more meaningful one. As a nation, we are strengthened by our respect for one another. By lifting up voices from all walks of life, in every corner of our country, and with the help of the Virgin Islands, the first moments of the Biden-Harris Administration will be a celebration of an inclusive, resilient and united America. “Following the Inaugural Ceremonies and a visit to the Arlington National Cemetery, President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will receive a Presidential Escort from 15th Street to the White House.
