Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett Announces $56,000 Federal Grant from the Department of Health and Human Services for the U.S. Virgin Islands Title V Competitive Risk Avoidance Education Program

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett (USVI), Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on the Interior, Energy, and Environment released the following statement regarding a $56,737 grant for the Virgin Islands Administration for Children and Families – Family and Youth Services Bureau:
“Today the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a $56,737 grant for the Virgin Islands Administration for Children and Families – Family and Youth Services Bureau which will be for the Title V Competitive Risk Avoidance Education Program. The purpose of the Program is to implement sexual risk avoidance education that teaches participants how to voluntarily refrain from non-marital sexual activity. The goals of the program are to empower participants to make healthy decisions, and provide tools and resources to prevent pregnancy, STIs, and youth engagement in other risky behaviors.” |
