CONGRESSWOMAN PLASKETT HOSTS PANEL OF MEDICAL EXPERTS TO DISCUSS COVID-19 VACCINE ON WTJX-TV

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement on her upcoming episode of the Washington Report where she addresses common concerns surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine:

“The COVID-19 pandemic has completely upended our lives as we know it, caused millions of deaths worldwide and continues to wreak havoc on our communities. The development and availability of the vaccine has the potential to help us to return to normal and prevent further mutations of the virus. Yet, there is widespread concern about the COVID-19 vaccine and many of us continue to question the vaccine’s effectiveness and safety. Additionally, the vaccination rate in the Virgin Islands is one of the lowest in the nation.

“In this episode of the Washington Report, we address common concerns and questions regarding the COVID vaccine. I’ll be joined by an amazing panel of medical experts, including our very own Dr. Marcella Nuñez-Smith from St. Thomas who is presently serving as the Senior Advisor to the White House COVID-19 Response Team and Chair of the Presidential COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force, Dr. Alric Simmonds Jr. of St. Croix who is the Medical Director of a medical facility in Orlando, FL and is a board-certified surgeon, along with Dr. Aisha Langford, a behavioral scientist who was an active part of the clinical trials of the COVID vaccine.

“You can catch this special edition of the Washington Report on WTJX-TV this Thursday, September 2nd at 8pm. The episode will also be available via WTJX’s Facebook page by using this link: https://www.facebook.com/wtjx.”
