CONGRESSWOMAN STACEY E. PLASKETT EXPRESSES HER CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF HOLLAND A. REDFIELD

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement expressing her condolences to the family and friends of Holland A. Redfield:

“I am beyond saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend, Holland Redfield. A consummate public servant, from the time Holland arrived in the Virgin Islands in the 1960’s, he made it his life’s mission to improve the quality of life in in our territory. A commercial pilot by trade but a statesman at heart, Holland served in a number of positions in the Virgin Islands government, the most notable being a six-term senator in the V.I. Legislature. In whatever role he held, he was known for being a staunch advocate for the people of the Virgin Islands. We also all grew to know and love his signature voice as a radio personality through the years, particularly on his show, Straight Talk with Holland Redfield. I always enjoyed every opportunity to engage with him and his listeners for the good-natured sparring for which he was well-known.

“Holland was a true friend of both my family and I, ever supportive and loyal to a fault. I am deeply grateful for the indelible mark that he has made on our culture, our politics, our government and our territory as a whole. We have indeed lost a giant and a pillar of our community.

“I send my love and prayers for comfort and peace to his daughter, his beloved grandchildren and other family and friends during this time.”
