CONGRESSWOMAN PLASKETT EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ATHNIEL “ADDIE” OTTLEY

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Plaskett released the following statement expressing condolences on the passing of Athniel “Addie” Ottley:

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a giant in our territory, Addie Ottley. He was an excellent example of service and dedication to our community. He embodied what combining one’s passion and public service should be. His love for the field of communications and for the Virgin Islands led him to be one of the most beloved radio personalities in our community.

“In addition to his love for communicating with the public, he served three terms as a senator in the Virgin Islands and as Lieutenant Governor during the administration of Governor Melvin H. Evans. He continued his public service in a number of different roles, including public relations representative for the Department of Commerce. Addie also served with a number of community organizations and boards. He was a devoted, active Catholic and actually knighted by Pope Francis to the Order of St. Gregory. His jovial nature and distinctive voice will be missed in our territory.

“Enter your rest sir, you’ve been a good and faithful servant. I send my love and prayers for comfort and peace to his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and loved ones.”
