For Immediate Release Contact: Tionee Scotland PRESS STATEMENT CONGRESSWOMAN PLASKETT ANNOUNCES GRANT FOR $1 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES (HHS) FOR THE VIRGIN ISLANDS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH Washington, DC – Congresswoman Plaskett released the following statement regarding a grant totaling $1,000,000 from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the Virgin Islands Department of Health: “I am very pleased to announce that the VI Department of Health was awarded a grant totaling $1 million dollars from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) for the purpose of strengthening STD prevention and control. These funds have been allocated to assist our local health department in providing the necessary education and commensurate preventive measures against STDs in our territory. STD prevention and control efforts are essential, so I am hopeful that our local department of health will be able to utilize these funds in a way that will benefit our community. ### |
