CONGRESSWOMAN STACEY E. PLASKETT TO PRESIDE OVER U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

 

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett will preside over the U.S. House of Representatives today, January 16th.  As Speaker pro tempore, Congresswoman Plaskett will manage debate on the House Floor.

 

Congresswoman Plaskett was sworn in to her 3rd term as the U.S. Representative for the Virgin Islands.  Congresswoman Plaskett has recently been appointed Senior Whip by Leadership.

 

“Presiding over the House of Representatives is a great honor and privilege, and I thank Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the opportunity to take the gavel in the 116th Congress,” said Plaskett.  “The American people voted for a Democratic Majority in the U.S. House to make government accessible, build an economy that works for everyone, and be a positive source for change in our country.  As I take the gavel as Speaker pro tempore today, I reaffirm my commitment to serve in a government that works for Virgin Islanders and the nation.”
