PLASKETT ENDORSES HAKEEM JEFFRIES AS MINORITY LEADER OF THE HOUSE DEMOCRATIC CONFERENCE Washington, DC – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett, a Member of the House Ways and Means, Budget and Agriculture Committees, released the following statement endorsing Rep. Hakeem Jeffries as Leader of the Democratic Conference “Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to not seek re-election to House Democratic Leadership came with much sadness, however, I am pleased to endorse Hakeem Jeffries as the next Minority Leader of the Democratic Conference. As Chairman of the Democratic Caucus, Rep. Jeffries has supported the right of every American to exercise their voice and has fought to safeguard our democracy and expand it’s promise to more Americans. “Prior to Washington, Rep. Jeffries served as an attorney litigating in one of the finest law firms in the world. His academic credentials demonstrate his keen analytical mind. Since day one of his entry in this body after serving in the New York legislature, he has been an outstanding young leader. “I have seen his determination and leadership firsthand. His vast experience and proven success in both Washington and in his congressional district will ensure the success of House Democrats into the future. “Undoubtedly, Hakeem Jeffries is a leader who has consistently put people over politics and sought solutions. That is why I believe Rep. Jeffries has all the qualities we need in a House Democratic Leader. ### |
