PLASKETT ANNOUNCES $66 MILLION IN FCC FUNDING FOR AFFORDABLE CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement announcing $66 million in Federal Communications Commission funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program, which the Virgin Islands will have the opportunity to vie for. “The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, that I was in strong support of, appropriated $14.2 billion for the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Grant Program. The Biden-Harris Administration created the blueprint to invest in America by growing the economy from the bottom up and middle out, investing in manufacturing, research, and innovation, lowering costs for Asmerican families, and making the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share. The Affordable Connectivity Program will provide subsidies to help underserved areas and rural areas expand broadband connectivity, helping 16 million American households save $500 million per month on high-speed internet. “The Affordable Connectivity Program benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers. “President Biden is building an economy that works for working people and I am proud to continue to put Virgin Islanders at the forefront of his agenda.” Click here to check eligibility and how to apply! ### |
