For Immediate Release Contact: Tionee Scotland Press Release PLASKETT TRAVELS TO EUROPE ON DELEGATION OF CONGRESSIONAL INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE MEMBERS Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement after traveling to Sweden, Poland, and Denmark on a Congressional Delegation with other members of the prestigious House Intelligence Committee: “Last week, I traveled as a member of the House Intelligence Committee to NATO countries to conduct oversight on intelligence operations and international cooperation in the region. “In Sweden, I met with U.S. Embassy officials and the Swedish government to discuss NATO integration, Baltic security, and the threat of undersea cable sabotage—potentially linked to Russian and Chinese activity. I also assessed the global impact of USAID’s dismantling, which has weakened Sweden’s aid ability and harmed our diplomatic relationships. “In Poland, I met with U.S. officials, civil society leaders, and Deputy Foreign Minister Władysław Bartoszewski to discuss continued U.S.-Polish support for Ukraine and the critical need for sustained security cooperation. Polish partners stressed the strategic importance of U.S. leadership in the region. “At my final stop in Denmark, I joined Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries in meetings with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. In light of the complex history between Denmark and the USVI, I impressed on the Danish PM as well as the Foreign Minister the incomplete resolution of past actions by the Danish Government in the treatment of the people of what is now the US Virgin Islands, and discussed a greater acknowledgement of past history and deepened investment. Additionally, I had substantive conversations with government officials from Greenland. The delegation of Members led by Leader Jeffries affirmed the commitment of the majority of members of Congress to the U.S.-Denmark alliance. I also met with U.S. embassy leadership to review bilateral ties. “I am always privileged by the opportunity to be a part of the Intelligence Committee and take seriously the responsibility of stewarding our nation’s national security, particularly since members of the Committee are appointed by the Speaker of the House. I look forward to continuing the work of improving our nation’s national security and strengthening the ties between the U.S. and our allies.” ### Pictured Below: Congresswoman Plaskett meets with Swedish Government officials
