PLASKETT MOURNS PASSING OF FIRST FEMALE V.I. SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE, EILEEN PETERSEN

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement expressing her condolences to the family, friends and the countless individuals impacted by the Honorable Judge Eileen Petersen:

“It is with tremendous sadness that I share my condolences to the family, loved ones and friends of the Judge Eileen Petersen. Eileen was the first woman to hold a judgeship in the territory and has been a timeless inspiration to many women such as myself.  As 1 of only 4 women in her law school class, I long admired her diligence and her commitment to excellence in everything she set her mind to do. Not only was she a trailblazer in the field of law and judicial matters in our territory, but she was also a tremendous and tireless advocate for both young people and women alike.

“It is my hope that we will continue to honor the legacy that she has left with her work in our community, not just by our actions today, but in the decisions we make in the future.

“I pray for God’s peace and comfort for her family and loved ones during this time.”
