CONGRESSWOMAN PLASKETT EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF VI FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES DIRECTOR, DARYL GEORGE

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Plaskett released the following statement expressing condolences on the passing of Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services Director, Daryl George:

“It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daryl George, a cherished member of the Virgin Islands community. He leaves behind a legacy of great dedication and commitment to the well-being of his fellow Virgin Islanders.

“Director George worked in our community as a Virgin Islands firefighter for over 20 years and served in numerous capacities within the VI Fire Service, including Assistant Director and Special Assistant to the Director. In all his capacities, it was evident that he put our community first. Director George was a true first responder, never hesitating to put his life on the line to be that lifeline for those in danger or at risk. Most importantly, Director George or ‘Mousy’, as he was known to so many, knew how to be a friend – a smile, an arm around your shoulder, loudly boasting or quietly reprimanding – he cared about those he claimed as his. THAT will be sorely missed.

“Jonathan and I, along with our staff – especially the St. Thomas team - send our prayers for comfort and peace to his loved ones, family (especially his children) and friends during this difficult time.”
