PLASKETT RELEASES STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF CONTINUING RESOLUTION TO AVERT GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

Washington, D.C. –Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement on the House passage of H.R. 6363, a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the government running and avert a shutdown:

“This week, the House passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) that would keep the U.S. government running at its current budget into next year. Despite the chaos our chamber has dealt with over the past few months, I am pleased that my fellow House colleagues and I were able to come together to pass a CR that would fund the government at least through the new year, preventing a shutdown that would have severe negative consequences for the Virgin Islands. A swift resolution through this CR provides stability, allowing the Virgin Islands to maintain vital programs and services without interruption, and safeguarding the overall welfare of its residents as we continue our recovery. 

“As stated by Leader Hakeem Jeffries, House Democrats consistently demonstrate that we put people over politics and work to find common ground with our Republican colleagues wherever possible, while pushing back against Republican extremism whenever necessary. It is imperative that we continue to come together to advance the resources needed to support American families and complete a full-year budget that reflects the values and priorities of our people.”
