PLASKETT EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF FORMER USVI COMMISSIONER PAM RICHARDS

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Plaskett released the following statement expressing condolences on the passing of former USVI Tourism Commissioner, Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Legislature and District Director of the Office of Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett, Pam Richards.

“I was saddened to hear of Pam’s passing. First and foremost, Pamela Richards was my friend.  She dedicated much of her life to service in our territory. Pam was the epitome of a Virgin Islander, having spent portions of her life on each island. She filled many roles in our community and faithfully served on numerous boards and organizations, including as the chairperson of the Federation of St. Croix Taxi Associations and the Virgin Islands Port Authority, as well as a member of the Agriculture and Food Fair of the U.S. Virgin Islands Board of Directors, the Virgin Islands Commission on Judicial Conduct, United Way of St. Croix, St. George Village Botanical Garden and Our Town Frederiksted, Inc, and as the president of the St. John Historical Society. Pam strove to serve in any way she could and gave of her time and talent consistently. I particularly loved, no, adored her store with Virgin Islands and Caribbean books, crafts, art. Her presence in our community will be missed.

“I am absolutely heartbroken about Pam’s passing.  I can’t say how much I will miss her sarcastic humor, our shared stories of our Virgin Islands historical tradition, culture, and people.  Pam was one who I called to confirm family connections and then talk for some time just about life.  I send my prayers for comfort and peace to her loved ones, family, and friends especially her brother and his wife.”
