PLASKETT APPLAUDS HOUSE FLOOR PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION TO DESIGNATE ST. CROIX POST OFFICE IN HONOR OF VIRGIN ISLANDER, LT. GENERAL SAMUEL E. EBBESEN

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett’s legislation to designate the Lt. Gen. Ebbesen Post Office (H.R. 5034) was passed on the House floor.

Congresswoman Plaskett introduced this legislation in the 118th Congress to designate the St. Croix Post Office located at 2119 Market Square in Christiansted as the “Lieutenant General Samuel E. Ebbesen Post Office.”

Lt. General Ebbesen, a native of St. Croix, has had a distinguished career in the military, business, community, and public service.  He served in several key staff positions, and commanded at every level to include the First Brigade, 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division, Ft. Campbell, KY; 6th Infantry Division, Ft. Wainwright, AK and the Second U.S. Army, Ft. Gillam, GA.

Lt. General Ebbesen shared, “I continue to be humbled by the efforts of Representative Stacey Plaskett and her office to honor my service. Being present to bear witness to us being one step closer to the designation of the Market Square, Christiansted Post Office to my name is truly an honor.”

“I am pleased to recognize Lt. General Ebbesen’s many accomplishments during his lifetime,” said Congresswoman Plaskett. “The naming of the Market Square Post Office on St. Croix as the Lt. General Samuel E. Ebbesen Post Office will enshrine his legacy as well as serve as an example of the thousands of Virgin Islanders who answer the call to duty in our armed forces.  The designation of this federal building to recognize Lt. General Ebbesen’s service is important.”

This legislation will now be sent to the Senate floor for a vote. If passed in the Senate, it will be sent to the President to be signed into law.
