ST. THOMAS, USVI – Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett welcomed U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm and other professional staff from the U.S. Department of Energy for a roundtable with local government officials and private stakeholders regarding the ongoing recovery and energy transition in the territory and opportunities for federal and local coordination to create a more resilient, reliable energy grid.

“I am very pleased that Secretary Granholm and her team were able to join us this week,” stated Congresswoman Plaskett. “Their presence in our territory and willingness to meet with us and make numerous site visits, including the Randolph Harley power plant on St. Thomas, is continued evidence of the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to investing in energy to transform systems in a way that promotes resilient, reliable, and affordable energy in communities like the Virgin Islands.

“I would like to thank Secretary Granholm for her partnership and for sharing her team’s wealth of knowledge with our territory. It is my hope that we can all learn and apply what we have gleaned from our engagements not just this week and our discussions over the last few months, but also as we move forward,” said Congresswoman Plaskett.
