“This week marks the beginning of another school year for our students in the Virgin Islands. I’d like to offer my best wishes to all of the returning students, their parents and the faculty and staff of all our schools in the territory. As a lifelong learner, I urge each and every student returning to school to take on new challenges and to make the most of their learning experience. As a parent, I urge the parents and guardians of our school children to continue to be engaged and involved in their child’s schoolwork and extracurricular activities. To our teachers, faculty and staff members, we thank you for your continued commitment to educating our children. We know that there are many challenges in today’s learning environment, but amid the challenges we face, I am certain the 2015-2016 school year will be a good year for our Virgin Island students. I pledge to continue to support initiatives here in Washington that makes our children, teachers, and administrators a priority. Best wishes to you all, as you continue on a productive educational journey. Have a safe and successful school year.” ### |
