ST. THOMAS– More than 100 high school students and their parents joined Virgin Islands Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett this weekend for two seminars aimed at helping students in the territory interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy with the resources and information necessary to begin the admissions process. “This seminar is an important opportunity for high school students in the territory interested in attending a U.S. service academy to get one-on-one counseling, as well as detailed information on the admissions process. I think the students and parents that attended will benefit greatly form the information and have a better understanding of what to expect should they be accepted into one of these institutions. We had several admissions experts and prior graduates of the various service academies on hand, and they were able to answer questions asked by the students and their parents,” Plaskett said. The military academies seminar was held on Friday, October 2, on the St. Thomas campus of the University of the Virgin Islands in the ACC Conference room, and on Saturday, October 3 in the Great Hall on the St. Croix Campus.
