Plaskett to Host Congressional Oversight Hearing on Hurricane Recovery Efforts in the Virgin Islands

ST. CROIX - Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett, a member of the House Government and Reform Committee, and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on the Interior, Energy and the Environment released the following statement concerning the upcoming Congressional Oversight Field Hearing in Cruz Bay, St. John.

“I am pleased to welcome my colleagues on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s Subcommittee on the Interior, Energy and the Environment to the Virgin Islands for a field hearing on the recovery efforts in the territory post, hurricanes, Irma and Maria. While the people of the Virgin Islands are grateful to the various Federal agencies for their respective responses and the progress made thus far, I think it is important to afford the residents of our community the opportunity to hold these entities accountable. And also to hear directly from those responsible, what, if anything, can be done to improve the recovery and ensure the Virgin Islands is rebuilt stronger, smarter and more efficient.”
