PLASKETT ANNOUNCES $189 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR V.I. WATER AND POWER AUTHORITY Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Stacey E. Plaskett released the following statement announcing $189 million in funding for V.I. Water and Power Authority from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). “I am pleased to announce $189 million in funding for V.I. Water and Power Authority for repairs as a result of Hurricane Maria. This funding was authorized under Section 428 of the Robert T. Stafford Act. Hurricane Maria made landfall throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands, including St. Croix and as a result, the Virgin Island Water and Power Authority suffered damages to their electrical distribution system. This funding will without fail help improve the resilience of our electrical distribution system. “Those appropriated funds will help bolster our infrastructure, increase the resiliency and independence of our energy grid, investing in the economic wellbeing and prosperity of all Virgin Islanders.” ### |
